September 2014 will see the introduction of Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) for all pupils in reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in state-funded schools.

For the 2014 – 2015 academic year, schools will receive £2.30 for each UIFSM provided. One-off funding is also available to help small schools (with up to 150 pupils) to purchase additional equipment needed for the increase in the uptake of meals.

With the expected increase in pupils requiring lunch, we are trialling a number of initiatives with our existing infant schools that are helping to speed up service and reduce queuing time.

ABsolutely Catering can assist you with the implementation of UIFSM as well as offer advice and support on additional equipment needed. Please contact us for more information about UIFSM and the support we can provide.

Further information about UIFSM can also be found on The Children’s Food Trust website.
