Eating Well To Be Well Award
Following a recent assessment, the Council and Environmental Health Officers awarded our catering team at Thistley Hough Academy in Penkhull, their ‘Eating Well To Be Well’ award.
The council’s assessment specifically looks at how caterers are reducing the amount of salt, sugar and saturated fat in their dishes. In addition, they judge the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables on the menu. With our ‘Halt the Salt’ and ‘Beet The Sugar Beat’ initiatives, we were not only able to prove that we are following these requirements, but that we are also ensuring children get their 5 a day.
Operations Director, Sharon Linney said “We are constantly developing ways to make healthy food exciting for children. We have several age related and interactive activities that help pupils understand where their food comes from as well as learn about the correct food to eat. I am very proud of the team at Thistley Hough in receiving this accreditation and the recognition it brings of our extensive work in providing healthy and nutritious meals.”
