With employees spread, many in small catering teams across the country, we bring every manager together for the annual Conference. The event is a chance for colleagues to meet with each other, share best practice and hear about the latest developments from across the company. There is also a suppliers exhibition covering everything from crockery to deep cleans.
The day is also about celebrating success over the year and the annual awards section has everyone on the edge of their seat to see which individual or team will take home an award.
The winner of one of our most prestigious awards, The Colin Giblenn Memorial Award, was Chef Manager Mark Grimshaw and the team from Woodchurch High School in Wirral, Merseyside.
In memory of our colleague Colin Giblenn, this award is given to the catering team that has worked the hardest to make food fun for the pupils it serves. With each Operations Manager nominating a site, the winner is selected on the previous academic year’s performance.
Mark’s nomination included a fantastic endorsement from the school’s Head Teacher. Presenting the award the judges said, “Mark and team have really ensured they continually make food fun and interactive. They have worked with the local community to produce a Harvest festival of locally produced food, getting pupils to make decorations for Christmas lunch, working with the food technology department to introduce cookery lessons, coaching students through work experience as well as cooking”.
